It has been said before; The Fokker D.VII biplane had a major impact at the end of the Great War. In 1917 the Germans badly needed a replacement for the Fokker Dr.1 triplane to counter the air superiority of the Nieuports and the SPAD's. Fokker enetered the Johannestal aircraft competition with his new fighter design, the V-11 and won the contract to build the famous Fokker D.VII. Many books have been written about this aircraft's general history, but little has been documented about the way the D.VII was constructed; how and why it was built of steel and wood and the many interesting design features that made the D.VII such a unique example of simplicity and functionality. After the war, the French, British and Americans carried out extensive research and structural load testing on captured D.VII's. We owe it to the researchers, that today we know so much about the characteristics and strenght of this aeroplane. drawings Original construction drawingsand technical descriptions of this famous aeroplane are scarce, with only a few drawings made by Fokker in existence. Over the years new drawings of the aircraft's major components like the fuselage, tall and wings have been made. However details such as shape and size of many smaller components has not been put on paper, until now! You are now able to build your replica Fokker D.VII or scale model to the highest level of authenticity. Drawings of all the previously undocumented parts are now available as a result of detailed studies of D.VII's at museums throughout Europe. A complete set of drawings consists of 84 detailed drawings in easy-to-handle A3 and A4 formats. Text is in Dutch with an English translation included. One set of drawings cost $ 200 or € 200, postage paid. how to order The drawings can be ordered from; Dick Funcke, Westeinde 242, 1647 MK Berkhout, The Netherlands contact phone : (31) (0)229 551971, fax (31) (0)229 551573 e-mail : dick@funcke.com payment From Europe: PostalGiro (Postbank) IBAN NL41PSTB000 1804461 From the rest of the world: Postbank NV Foreign Operations Bijlmerdreef 109, 1102 BW Amsterdam, Swift code: PSTBNL21 giro account 1804461 D.N.
